Zoe takes a ride around the 5th floor

Well, Zoe was finally discharged from the hospital this evening. She has been doing much better the past few days. The spitting up has finally gotton under control. We think the biggest cause for that was that she began teething late last week - at least two new teeth. When she teeths, Zoe creates buckets of drool. Mixed with the medications, the surgery, the lack of moving around, and Zoe’s sensitive stomach, she just swallowed most of it - causing her to spit most of it back up.

So here’s the scoop. Zoe and Leslie will be staying in Cincinnati at the Ronald McDonald House for at least the next several weeks. Next Friday, Zoe will go back to the hospital, where they will remove a stent placed in her airway during the surgery last week. During her visit, she will also have her airway scoped to make sure there’s nothing terribly wrong. This scope won’t tell the doctors much, as there is likely to still be some swelling. One to two weeks following that, she will go back for another scope. This scope will give the doctor’s a much better picture of how the surgery is holding up, how the graft is taking, and how her airway has reacted to the surgery. From this scope, the doctor’s will decide the next steps to take with Zoe.

Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers - we’ll ask that you hold out a few more for us - we’re not done yet.
